Chief Transformation Officer at Mediacom, Author of 'The Glass Wall – Success Strategies For Women at Work and Businesses that mean Business'
- What does your job entail?
I am Chief Transformation Officer at Mediacom. I have worked at Mediacom for over 25 years – it is now the UK’s largest Media Agency. I ensure that Mediacom has transformed itself for the digital age, that we have a great understanding of data and how to use it on behalf of our clients, and I help our clients with that advice for their own businesses.
- What do you love about data?
The thing about data is that it tells such amazing stories, it tells those stories in real time. You can now go into any kind of work situation, instead of saying ‘I think’ something or ‘I am guessing something’, you can pull out real time huge data sets and by spending some time with them, you can say ‘I know this’, and that knowing will give your client better advice.
- What do you think is most important in work and career?
It is working with really great people, and the culture of the business you work in is the most important thing. If you work in a place with a great culture, you just don’t ever have a bad day at work.
- Who is your inspiration?
I have a whole series of female role models that I turn to, who go back in history. There are many times when I think what would Lisa Simpson do? What would Buffy the Vampire Slayer do? What would George Eliot do? I would advise anyone to have a whole range of women to call on.
